Library London, E1

about

An architect designed bookshop just off Brick Lane.

The Library has a very distinctive mirrored wall and reflective ceiling that gives the impression of a much bigger space. With a large bay window to the front of the shop, there is lots of natural light.

In the space, which has been designed with curved shelves, there is a large central island that can be dismantled to provide more floor space. The floor and shelves are made from a yellow wood and there is a small ‘nook’ with a skylight and a small bathroom leading off from it. At the entrance is a desk area that cannot be moved. There is also an accessible basement that has concrete floor and is used for workshops and administration.

A total capacity of 50 people standing when the island is removed. There is also a strong shelf in the window that is used as a display area but can bear the weight of two adults and chairs. We have a collection of vintage lights which give soft pools of light rather than harsh over-head bulbs.

Dimensions are: 27.5 sqm in the main space, 31.3 sqm including the ‘nook’. Neither measurement takes in to acocunt the shelves or the front desk but is with the island removed.

Private parking may be available if booked in advance.
